Dillon and Parleen win Singles titles @ Victorian Junior Open

Dillon Chambers had a big escape in the SF then an impressive Final win in the U18 Boys Singles event while Parleen Kaur played her first U11 Singles this year to take the title.

For Dillon, it was a matter of not giving up against fellow MSTT player, Yang Shen. Yang led 3 sets to 1 but Dillon fought back to 3 - 3 then in the 7th set, Yang had 2 match points at 10 - 8 but Dillon won the next 4 points to win 12 - 10.In the final, Dillon played former MSTT student (2005 - 2011) Dominic Huang who he lost to for last 6-7 times over approx. 18 month period. Dillon played a great match and won 4 - 1 and crowned Vic. Open Junior Champion for 2014. Within a few hours of the match finishing, Dillon was on a flight to Perth to participate in Australian Senior Championships (June 29 - July 5) where he qualified for the Vic. Men's Team (4 players) and is no. 3 seed for U21 Men's Singles.

Parleen has been playing U13 & U15 Singles this year but for this prestigeous tournament chose to include U11 and exclude U15 - players can only play 2 Age Group events. As expected, Parleen won the event but her opponent in the final, Chermaine Quah, put up a good fight before going down 4 - 1.

Other MSTT players that made a final in Age Group events were,

Denise Lim, R-up U15 Girls Singles

Parleen Kaur, R-up U13 Girls Singles
