William Henzell and Miao Miao the big winners at Oceania Cup

William and Miao won their gender's Singles to take the Oceania Cup and win $5k each plus earning a spot in the World Singles Cup later this year where only 16 players (top 9 WR plus 6 continental champions plus one wildcard) are permitted to participate.

William had a shaky start against David Powell winning the first set 15-13, then second 11-7 while David won the 3rd, 11-7 but after that it was all one way traffic and with 11-4 and 11-1 scoreline and William winning his 5th (2007, 09, 11, 12 & 13) Oceania Singles title. David earned $2k for being R-up and is establishing himself as the 2nd best player in Australia.

Miao had a exhausting battle with old warrior, Li Chung Li (51 years old plus former top 30 WR player in the mid/late 1990's and early 2000's) and after being 3 sets to 1 down, fought back and won 11-8 in the 7th set. Miao has played Chung Li many times since the late 1990's but this was her first victory. Well done Miao and back luck to the evergreen Chung Li.
