David Powell had a fantastic week by captaining Victorian/MSTT Team to victory in the Team Event then won the Mixed & Men's Doubles.
In the Men's Singles he had a very strong win in the QF against Tatsuya Hidaka (NSW) 4 - 2 then defeated long time rival Kane Townsend 4 - 0 in SF. David was one win away from gaining a full clean sweep of Gold Medals but had to play Australia's greatest male TT player, William Henzell, in the Final. William was too strong and won 4 - 0 (8, 9, 9, 5).
Another great performance in Men's Singles by an MSTT player was Chamara Fernando who in the QF was 4-1 up in the 7th set against Kane Towsend but eventually lost 11-7 after Kane pulled out many strong shots in the 2hd half of the game.
MSTT supplied 100% of Victorian Men's Team to won the Gold Medal.
