Berry (in her early 30's) is from Taiwan and represented Chinese Taipei at some fringe events as a player in 2007 & 2008. She lived in Sydney for 18 months from early 2014 and was the coach of Noah Kim who went on to become Australian R-up U13 Boys Singles in early October this year. She also was the coach of 5 other players who played Australian Junior Championships, represented NSW, for their first time.
As a player in Taiwan, Berry's highlights were representing Chinese Taipei @ 2007 Peace Sports Festival in South Korea where she was R-up in Women's Singles, Won Women's Doubles & Team Event. In 2008 she won National Intercollegiate/Uni Games Women's Singles before stopping training later that year and taking up a coaching career.
As a coach in Taiwan, Berry came through the High School system (coach of Wei Jhen High School Girls Team) which is where many players in Taiwan improve their level and go on to become National Squad & National Team players - this system is much different compared to Australia. In 2012 Berry was chosen to coach the National Cadet (U15) Girls Team @ Thailand Open where some players won medals. In 2013 & 2014 she coached Girls Team to become National High School Champions before moving to Sydney.
After moving to Sydney, Berry played 2014 ITTF Pro Tour Australian Open representing Chinese Taipei where they won Women's Team Event and partnering Australia's Miao Miao was R-up in Women's Doubles. During the Tournament she played Miao Miao in Singles and beat her 4-0.
This year Berry played ITTF Australian Open (no Team Events were played) again and won a Singles match before losing 4-3 to World No. 35, Misaki Morizono (currently ranked 37). Not a bad effort for someone who stopped training 7 years ago in 2008!!!
