Chamara Fernando started the year with a bang winning the Over 30 & 40 Men's Singles at Victorian Closed Veterans Tournament. This year there is extra interest in the O40's as former Australian no. 1 through the early 1990's and current Table Tennis Victoria CEO, Dennis Makaling is playing some tournaments.
Chamara was a triple champion on the day as he won Over 40 Mixed Doubles with partner Lan Zhai.
