MSTT player, Mahi Joshi (U13), had a fabulous weekend and finished 1st in the Australian Cadet Girls Top 10. This is a great achievement for Mahi who was able to show her skills/standard in this Round Robin format. Mahi has been coached by Mark since May 2009 and has improvement steadily from year to year building a solid foundation where she can now compete well with any player in Australia for her age group (U13) and above (U15).
Another MSTT player, Darcie Morton finished 2nd in the U15 Girls. Mahi and Darcie finished equal 1st on 7 wins and 2 loses each but the countback rules (who won head to head) meant Mahi was 1st and Darcie 2nd.
From the 40 players that particpated, 7 were from MSTT. Aside from Mahi, the other player to suddenly put their name in lights was Dillon Chambers (16 years old). He had some great wins and showed he will be a force in future months & years, knowing he has 2014 & 2015 left as a junior. Dillon made the tough decision last year and moved from his home in Mildura (6hr drive from Melbourne) and, since July 2012 has lived in Melbourne and is now reaping some of the benefits.
