Jasmine wins ITTF Aust Junior Open Singles title

MSTT player Jasmine Chao, competing in her first international tournament, won the U18 Girls Singles @ Australian Junior & Cadet Open that is part of the ITTF World Junior Circuit. Jasmine showed she is a world class player by defeating Chia-Hsuan Lin (U18 WR26) from Chinese Taipei in QF 4-2 then Korean Sehwa Kim 4-0 in SF then in an entertaining final defeated Mengyao Zhang of China 4-1.

Jasmine, together with another new Australian player, Gemma (Jiamuwa) Wu who made SF of Girls Singles, can help keep Australia competitive on the international stage in future years. As stalwarts Jian Fang Lay and Miao Miao are in the twilight of their careers after helping the country maintain respectability on the world scene, Jasmine and Gemma can provide Australia its best chance to win medals at future big events plus provide a great opportunity for other females to improve their level.
