Chamara wins Vic. Open O30 & 40 Singles

The day after finishing a gruelling week of matches at National Senior Championships, 42yr old Chamara Fernando backed to play the Victorian Open Veterans tournament and took out the Over 30 & 40 Men's Singles titles. Both finals he played against arch rival Danny Semmiler and both matches went to the deciding 5th set and both matches Chamara came out the victor.

This was a courageous effort by Chamara who has worked very hard since coming back to the sport in 2012 after a 4 year break. He has combined full-time work, wife & 2 children plus training 3-4 times a week and being an MSTT Coach since mid 2013. To play a full week of Naitonal Singles Championships then to play another tournament the day after is very taxing on the body and mind. Well done Chamara!!
