Chamara World Veteran C'ships

Chamara Fernando competed at the recent World Veteran Championships in Spain where an astonishing 4,600 participated. 300 tables were used in 2 venues (185 in main hall and 115 in 2nd hall) plus a separate venue for practise. The numbers for all events, relative to Age Group, were massive.


Chamara had a fantasic tournament making the Quarter Final in Over 40 Men's Singles. This event alone had an incredible 668 players that included quite a few current professional players and many former professional players. This event started with 167 Groups of 4 players where Chamara won all 3 matches in his Group. He then moved onto a knockout stage where he won another 3 matches to make the Last 32. He then had a 3-0 win against a player from Brazil then had a great win in Last 16 against someone from Czech Republic before losing 3-0 to someone from Sweden in Quarter Final.
