Victorian Open male singles winners

Simon Gerada stretched his record Victorian Open singles titles to 10 when he easily accounted for Danny Semmiler in the final, 4-1. In the U21 Men's Singles, no. 1 seed and MSTT player, Heming Hu beat Ivan Sulfaro in the final.

The Men's Singles saw some interesting results. It started in the group phase where Craig Carter was 2-0 up in a best of 5 match against the experience Greek, George Pittas but lost 3-2. In the first round George had a great win over MSTT player/coach David Powell 4-3 - earlier this year David defeated George in the close match, 4-2. In the next round (QF), George lost to Danny Semmiler who then had a slightly surprising win over young gun, Ivan Sulfaro in the SF. In the other SF, Simon took Heming apart 4-0 who then also took apart Danny in the final. This was Simon's first tournament played since February 2012 (Aust. Olympic Qualifying) and has now won 10 Vic. Open Men's Singles title and has set a record that will most likely never be surpassed.

The U21 Men's Singles went to script where the no. 1 and 2 seeds played in the final where the no. 1 seed, Heming, defeated Ivan and win his first title in this event at this tournament.
