Benjamin Gould & Angela Zhan make Oceania Cadet Team

Benjamin (QLD) and Angela (NSW) qualified for their gender's Oceania Cadet Team to compete at the World Cadet Challege later this year in Barbados.

In an event where only two players from each country can paticipate then only one player from each country is permitted to make the Oceania Team, the Qualifying Event is always nerve racking for the players and their parents.

Benjamin finished 2nd overall to New Zealander Victor Ma but defeated fellow Aussie, Roger Wang 3 - 1 and another New Zealander, Dean Shu to seal his spot.

The girls event was more dramatic. Ruofei Rao (New Zealand) finised 1st by a clear margin without losing a match but there was a 3 way tie for 2nd between Australian's Dacie Morton and Angela together with Xin Nai Jiang (New Zealand). The count back decided which Aust. girl would make Oceania Team. The count back went in Angela's favour by one single game.
