Australian stalwart Jian Fang Lay showed her class by defeating Isabelle Suying Li (WR110) from Singapore 4-0 (10,6,13,4) to progress into the 2nd Round @ World Championships.

In the 2nd Round Jian lost 4-0 to 15yr old superstar, Mima Ito (Japan) who last month rocketed up WR list from 38 to now be 15 after winning the German Open in March including a win over Tianwei Feng from Singapore who is WR no.5.

Jian has been defeating strong International players for nearly 20 years after making her debut for Australia in late 1995. From Oct 95 - Dec 95 Jian played 6 International t'ments with her initial WR being 47 in early 1996 after defeating 2 players in top 30 in world. Since then, Jian has played many International tournaments and gained many impressive wins but in recent years played less due to family (2 children and husband) committments and has subsequently dropped off the WR list. Her current points of 2,134 would see her WR be approx. 110.
